Today while having evening tea at a workshop in Daryaganj, Delhi I was listening to AIR FM Gold. They were celebrating Rabindra Nath Tagore's 150th birth anniversary..

"Where mind is without fear & head is held high, 

Where knowledge is free,

Where the World has not been broken up 

into fragments by narrow domestic walls.

Where words come out from the Depth of truth.

Where tireless striving stretches it arms towards perfection,

Where clear stream of reason has not lost its way into dreary desert sand of dead habits..

Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever widening thought and action.

Into that heaven of freedom my father. Let my country awake!"

These were recited by My School's Principal everyday, so I had recited it for over 12 years of my school life. I was not even aware who wrote these lines, and never even tried to seek what these words mean. Every morning assembly it was Mam Principal spoke and rest of crowd repeated and many did not do that even... 

Since it was in English which is not our Mother Tongue so I dont think anyone would understand it right away.. secondly even Mam Principal never emphasised on it .. it was merely a routine that was going on from ages.. 

Till now you will start thinking how ignorant was the writer, and his school. BUT today after listening it out of RADIO it has changed the whole meaning of these lines for me. I can recite the whole Poem even Today, but it was today only when i felt the words in it.. it was only today i actually got to understand what it is that we were singing for 12 years.. 

It seems that past 12 years have lead me to this day..  as if some mystery is resolved.. :D

These lines tell Tagore ji's view of Bharat, What our country should be, (where Knowledge is free.. clear stream of reason..)

The main thing is that Prayer is still required... Because :
In Bharat the mind is still not without Fear, knowledge is still not free, narrow domestic walls are still diving our family...

And now learning this I am even more poised to do something..
